  1. AUTORUN.EXE is a small C-coded utility
  2. launcher application that's designed to
  3. be quickly loaded automatically by the
  4. AutoRun feature of Windows 95 and
  5. Windows NT 4.0, to either install a
  6. CD-ROM's software, or run the already
  7. installed software from the hard drive.
  8. Since AUTORUN.EXE is a 16-bit program,
  9. it can also be run by Windows 3.1 users
  10. by double-clicking on it in the File
  11. Manager (or using Program Manager's
  12. File/Run, etc). This lets you
  13. streamline the installation process for
  14. your end users, lowering your tech
  15. support expenses and simplifying your
  16. CD-ROM's insert card instructions.
